About Dogbad

Welcome to Dogbad – the most twice-baked, lawyerless, flea-bitten, varmint-infested,
nuclear tested, radioactive fall-outin’-est town in the west! It’s our pleasure to
bring you new adventures every week, anything-but-neat, indiscrete, replete with
stories and personalities, games and Dogbad fun.
21 August 2009. I’ve been drawing Dogbad episodes for a couple of months now, and the characters seem to be getting along OK, so far. The characters are surprising me and the biggest task is merely keeping up with them. The story is plotted out several weeks in advance. It’s taking me more time than I expected to draw eight panels per episode and I want to thank my boss Mr Rushdie for his indulgence in allowing me the time and space necessary to detail the backgrounds properly. Backgrounds are important to me because atmosphere and settings are important, and in my opinion, a cartoon with great backgrounds stands head and shoulders above the competition.
The characters who I thought would be the most active (Kit McKlaw, Suicide Cat, Sheriff Divtag, etc.) have been content to play supporting roles, so far.
One has appeared as it were, out of nowhere: the Snake Shaman. Characters first assumed by me to be minor ones (specifically Señor Hsss and Señor Hoss) have come to the fore and displayed depth and wit and, somewhat bizarrely, a unique language all their own. I don’t always get what they say, but I transcribe it as I hear it. Again, the biggest task is just keeping up with it.
Animation, music, games and more are in the pot and I’ll put them on the table as soon as they are ready for consumption.
I have received some nice comments, some strange ones, and I read them all and reply to  them as best I can. Thank you each and every one, keep those comments coming, and stay tuned-  it can get stranger, I promise.
